The Texas Federation Annual Meeting addresses the role that Theosophy plays in the individual groups throughout Texas.
The 2008 Texas Federation Annual Meeting
April 18-20,
Will address the connection between Theosophy and Tibetan Buddhism.
The guest speakers will be David and Nancy Reigle.
The following is an overview of the program:
It is claimed that Theosophy represents a portion of a large body of secret teachings that for long ages has been preserved in its entirety by a brotherhood centered in Tibet. In recent decades a large quantity of hitherto unknown Tibetan teachings has come before the world, as a result of the Tibetan displacement. Do these teachings add to Theosophy, revealing more of the secret teachings? Do these teachings even confirm Theosophy, as might be expected? Or do these teachings contradict Theosophy, as many now believe? Do they in fact supersede Theosophy, showing Theosophy to be Blavatsky's fantasy as its critics have long held? Just what is Theosophy's Tibetan connection, if any?
David and Nancy Reigle are the authors of Blavatsky's Secret Books: Twenty Years' Research (Wizards Bookshelf, 1999). David is also the author of The Books of Kiu-te, or the Tibetan Buddhist Tantras (1983), and Kalacakra Sadhana and Social Responsibility (1996). They have long been researching the Sanskrit and Tibetan language scriptures with the goal of eventually tracing Blavatsky's "Book of Dzyan" and "Book of the Golden Precepts." Much of their research is available on their Eastern Tradition Research Institute website: www.easterntradition.org.
