Tibet Pigrimage June 9

  • Drive to Manjushir Monastery Museum. The monastery, located in a valley to the south of the sacred Bogd Mountains, was used in the pre-Soviet days for long term meditation retreats. It was destroyed by the Stalinist Communists during the cultural purges of the 1930s.
  • On the way we stopped in the small town (capital of Tuv Amaig) below the ruins and visited the History Museum, which was under renovation. The director kindly allowed us to view their dinosaur eggs.

Preparing to meditate in the ruins of Manjushir monastery ruins - Glenn, Betty and Basaan Lama, with Don in the background. Some of the group meditating in Manjushir monastery ruins - (from left) Dianne Kynaston, Brian Marshall, Merry Dickens, Kay Soltice, ???, Michele Miley, Lama and Shurkuu - and is that John Besse in the background? Taken from where we'd just meditated - Glenn Mullin in part of the ruins, with the orange-roofed Museum of Tuv Aimag behind, and the view down the valley up which we climbed from the carpark.
