Milwaukee 100th Celebration
"TIMELESS TRUTH of THEOSOPHY"
THE THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY IN MILWAUKEE IS CELEBRATING THEIR 100th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
November 12, 13, & 14, 2010
Join us as we celebrate 100 years of our Theosophical Quest, here on the shore of Lake Michigan.
OUR EXCITING AGENDA
Friday 8 PM
"The Sacred Mission of the Theosophical Society," with Edward Abdill It is easy to accept the concept of Universal Brotherhood, but it is not so easy to
fully understand its implications and make it a central theme in our lives. We will lay aside superficial explanations and seek to uncover the deep and
practical implications of Universal Brotherhood.
Saturday 9 AM
"100 years of Theosophy in Milwaukee" with National Society Archivist, Janet Kerschner
• Remembering 100 years in Images, Newspaper clippings and Letters
• Milwaukee's own beloved alumni, Joy Mills: "Reminiscences -- My Early Days in Theosophy"
"Theosophy and the Future," with David Bruce "The ageless wisdom tradition known as Theosophy can help to guide us through the challenges faced by
the contemporary world. Because they are ageless they are also timeless. As Madame Blavatsky said, the central ideas of Theosophy ‘belong
exclusively to no religion, and are confined to no society or time. They are the birthright of every human soul.’”
The Luncheon options are:
• Marinated Portabella Mushroom Stuffed with Feta and Spinach
• Vegetarian Ratatouille(Vegan) with Caramelized Onions, Marinara Sauce and Seitan.
The Ceremonial Cake Cutting
Will honor the oldest and youngest Theosophists present, and
All the Theosophists who have kept the Theosophical flame burning for 100 years here in Milwaukee.
"Your Own Sacred Mission: Dharma as the Lodestar of Life," with Edward Abdill “Why was I born in a particular place and to specific parents? I may say that karma placed me here, and that may be true. But what am I supposed to do with my life? Is there a destiny or purpose unique for me? The Indian and Theosophical concept of dharma can help answer those burning questions.”
Stump the Panel: Moderated by Joyce Goulet, This will be a chance for everyone to ask questions of our presenters and one or two surprise panelists.
Additional Highlights
• Theosophical Publishing House -- Quest Books will be available on Saturday at discount prices
• Tim Boyd, of The Theosophical Order of Service, will be here during the day on Saturday.
Sunday 2 PM
"Steps on the Path to Our Sacred Mission," with Edward Abdill “We all seek happiness, yet we all suffer psychological pain. What is it that may prevent us from realizing the happiness we seek? Merely reading the texts and remembering what we read will not bring understanding. Essential to understanding is direct insight, what Blavatsky calls “spiritual intuition.” By probing deep within ourselves we may discover the path to our sacred mission and in the process find that our lives gradually become more joyful and worth living.
