Theosophical Leaflets

We have put a few of our leaflets on this site to acquaint visitors with some of the perspectives and views of Theosophy. Normally these little pamphlets are available in the lobbies of various centers of the Theosophical Society in America, but they can also be ordered directly from us. (See below.)

The Art of Meditation

Meditation is based on a centuries-old science, but it is an art by which we can find an inner center of peace within ourselves by seven steps, using any of four methods.

Christianity and Theosophy
The study of Theosophy merits consideration by all who wish to make their Christian faith both more intelligible to their minds and more alive in their hearts.

Cults, the Occult, and Theosophy
Cults and the occult are much in the news these days. We see reports of religious groups that are planning for some Armageddon or are brainwashing young people. Occasionally such stories refer to Theosophy as a cult. The occult, which Theosophical literature often refers to, is mistakenly reported as devil worship, animal sacrifice, and the desecration of churches or graveyards. What connection is there really between cults, the occult, and Theosophy?

Death and the Life Beyond
The Wisdom Tradition holds that life and death, being born and dying, are only temporary events in our vast cycle of existence.

The Emblem of the Theosophical Society
The emblem of the Theosophical Society consists of seven elements which are highly symbolical. These symbols are found in various religious traditions and have significant esoteric meaning.

H. P. Blavatsky and Her Writings
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891), one of the founders of the Theosophical Society, was a remarkable woman who has made a great impact on the thought of the Western world.

Introducing the Theosophical Society
The Theosophical Society, founded in 1875, offers a modern statement of the perennial Wisdom and points the way to intercultural understanding and cooperation.

Karma: The Law of Order and Opportunity
Theosophy holds that order pervades the universe because everything exists according to the laws of nature. Natural law operates throughout the physical world, and also in feelings, thoughts, and aspirations.

Reincarnation
One of the most illuminating teachings of the Wisdom Tradition is that our mortal life is only one episode in the greater life of the Immortal Soul.

Theosophy and Science
Science does not need mysticism and mysticism does not need science, but we human beings need both. This online booklet is based on a written one by the Australian Theosophy-Science Group, published by the Theosophical Society in Australia.

Vegetarianism and Theosophy
Recognizing our oneness with one another and with all living beings, we see the earth and its largesse not as the property of humankind, ripe for exploitation, but rather as a trust to be cared for and used with prudence and compassion.

Who Am I? What does it Mean to be Human?
"Know thyself"óthat message was inscribed over the entrance to the oracle at Delphi, and who we are is the most important thing in the world to know.

Yoga: A Theosophical Perspective
Yoga is not just a set of exercises. It is a technique for integrating our lives and connecting with the spirit of life around us and within us through four main systems.

In addition to the leaflets available on this web site, we have many others which we will be pleased to mail to you. They are concise in form and content, but will acquaint you with the essential principles of Theosophy and the basis upon which the Society is founded. If you have a friend who you think might also like to receive literature, feel free to copy this form for their use. You may receive up to five titles at no charge or the entire set (English or Spanish) for a fee of $4.00 (to help cover the cost of postage and handling).
