If you have been to Far Horizons in years past, you realize that volunteers run the camp as well as show up to support it. What you may not know is that although we successfully completed the season of 2008, the volunteer staff continues to feel pressure because, to keep up the standard, we needed more help. For the coming year, generating a strong staff of volunteers is a top priority. To do so, we are reaching out to you, people who have experienced (and benefited from) the unique offerings of Far Horizons.
If you (or any friends you can think of that would be a good fit for Far Horizons) have interest in being a part of the Far Horizons staff this summer, consider applying!
When you volunteer you get to live:
- With 3 delicious, organic vegetarian meals a day.
- In the absence of electricity – a subtle, but noticeable change that gives your body a break.
- In the spirit of service, sharing your gifts with others
- Surrounded by forest and wilderness, with many hiking, exploring and meditative opportunities.
- In community, coming together daily with others that share common goals.
- With the option to attend any of the personal growth workshops that take place every week.
All of this in trade for a contribution of work to keep the place running.
Listed above are just a few of the reasons why spending a summer of service at Far Horizons is so enriching, and there are many more to be discovered in the experience. 2009 is a good time to explore what else you will find during a summer at Far Horizons that you won’t forget.

A big thank you and a bear hug to all the volunteers that have helped in the past and to all of those yet to come. See you beneath the trees!
