  HENRY S. OLCOTT MEMORIAL LIBRARY

From the Library
Anagarika Dharmapala was born on September 17, 1864, 150 years ago. A revered Buddhist in his time, he became a major reformer and revivalist of Sri Lankan Buddhism with the help of Henry Steel Olcott and Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. In 1891 he formed the beginnings of the Maha Bodhi Society in India and was invited to speak at the 1893 World's Parliament of Religions and the Theosophical Congress. His story is described in this month's featured wiki article.

Are you interested in learning more about Theosophical history and some of the people involved with its growth? See these suggested titles from the library.

  DONATE

Dormant spirits lie in bondage
Serving out their needless time
Until the fires of being serging
upward make their climb
Then brother to the rock and
sister to the sea
With divinity, infinity they
unite and are set free...
