Join Roy Remer, author of Zen Caregiving: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others, for a lecture exploring the spiritual dimensions of care. Weaving together insights on presence, compassion, and impermanence, Roy illuminates the spiritual depth of providing care.

Drawing from wisdom traditions, he examines how to hold another’s suffering while sustaining one’s own heart, body, and spirit. For anyone supporting a loved one, neighbor, or friend, this lecture explores how the act of care can become a profound and sacred practice..

RoyRemerRoy Remer, Executive Director of the Zen Caregiving Project (formerly Zen Hospice Project), has been an end-of-life caregiver and educator since 1997. He began his journey by training with the Zen Caregiving Project as a volunteer caregiver, serving at the bedside for six years at the Guest House facility and then for seven years in the Palliative Care Ward at San Francisco’s Laguna Honda Hospital. In 2008, he furthered his expertise by completing a yearlong end-of-life caregiver training program at the Metta Institute in Sausalito, California. A dedicated practitioner of the Soto Zen tradition and a student at the San Francisco Zen Center, Roy is a certified instructor of Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT©). He earned this certification through the Stanford University Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) and the Compassion Institute. Beyond his work with the Zen Caregiving Project, Roy also leads wilderness-based rites of passage programs in collaboration with EarthWays LLC of Sebastopol, California, and serves on the board of directors for Enso Village in Healdsburg, California.
