In this engaging three-session course, you'll learn practical techniques for interpreting oracle cards with greater confidence, insight, and creativity. Through hands-on exercises and reading exchanges, we'll explore intuition, symbolism, the unique voice of each deck, and the methods professional guidebook authors use to uncover meaning.

Whether you're new to oracle cards or already have a favorite collection, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of the cards and greater confidence in your own ability to read them.

Charles HarringtonCharles Harrington has been reading, teaching, and loving the cards for 30 years. He is the author of Tarot and Oracle Card Reading for Dummies and has written guidebooks for several decks, including the Odyssey Oracle, the Dante’s Inferno Oracle, The Journey of a Lonely Soul Oracle, and the Tarot of the Vampires. He has given keynotes and workshops at tarot conferences in the U.S. and has led regular meetups for readers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Exploring divination from different worldviews, synchronicity, and how we create meaningful readings.
  • Why Oracle Cards Are Different
    The freedom oracle cards offer, the challenges created by every deck having its own system, and what these cards can do particularly well.
  • Better Questions, Better Readings
    How your questions shape the reading, and how to turn vague, predictive, or limiting questions into invitations for greater insight.
  • The Equation of Meaning
    Understanding how the question, artwork, symbolism, intuition, context, and the guidebook all contribute to the meaning of a card.
  • Exercise: Reading Exchange
    Students practice interpreting cards for each other using the techniques they've learned.
  • Homework
    Spend the week looking for symbols, patterns, and meaningful coincidences in everyday life.

Session Two – Secrets of a Guidebook Author

  • The Magic Behind Making Oracle Decks
    What every reader can learn from the process of creating new decks.
  • Every Deck Has a Point of View
    How to find and understand your deck's unique voice. Learning to recognize the values, assumptions, strengths, and blind spots built into every oracle deck (and every reader).
  • Reading Between the Lines
    Exploring what guidebooks reveal, what they leave unsaid, and how to work thoughtfully when your own interpretation differs from the author's.
  • Exercise: Meeting an Unfamiliar Deck
    Students examine unfamiliar cards and identify the deck's likely voice, point of view, and range before comparing their impressions with the guidebook.

Session Three – From Cards to Conversations

  • Specializing with Spreads
    How positions create meaning, how spreads shape the questions being asked, and how to design simple layouts for particular situations.
  • Reading for Other People
    Managing the ins and outs of reading for others, from ethical dilemmas to promoting your querents' agency.
  • Meeting Your Magical Self
    A guided journey to your place of power on the astral plane to help you find confidence and your unique voice as a reader.
  • Exercise: Incorporating Advanced Techniques
    Bringing it all together for a final series of interactive readings.
