Mindfulness Meditation

Wednesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., April 17 – May 22 (6 classes)

Bill EpperlyMindfulness meditation is a path to enhanced spiritual awareness and, ultimately, awakening to our interconnectedness to all life. In this six-week course, you will learn an integral form of mindfulness meditation that embraces four key aspects of life: Self, Body, Relationships, and Social Engagement. You will come away with an established practice of mindfulness meditation as well as tools for taking mindful awareness into all aspects of your life. Prior meditation experience is helpful but not necessary

Bill Epperly, PhD, is a research biochemist who left the lab in pursuit of enlightenment. He has studied contemplative Christianity, Zen Buddhism, and Ken Wilber’s integral spirituality. He teaches mindfulness at DePaul University and serves individuals as a spiritual coach and teacher. His websites are billepperly.com and integralawakenings.com.

Introduction to Integral Mindfulness
Fundamentals of meditation: intention, posture, and abdominal breathing
Experiential: Mindfulness meditation time, followed by Q & A

Week Two
Developing a focal point
Working with thoughts, sensations, , etc., during formal practice time
Experiential: mindfulness meditation time, followed by Q & A

Week Three
Mindfulness of Self
Practicing mindful awareness of Self during the day
Experiential: mindfulness meditation, followed by Q & A

Week Four
Mindfulness of Body
Practicing mindful awareness of the body in stillness and movement
Experiential: mindfulness meditation followed by Q & A

Week Five
Mindfulness of Relationships
Practicing mindful awareness in all relationships
Experiential: mindfulness meditation, followed by Q & A

Week Six
Mindfulness in the World
Practicing mindful awareness as you engage with the world
Experiential: mindfulness meditation followed by Q & A
