Saturday, June 6, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. CT
There has always been a strong link between spirituality and poetry. Poets like William Wordsworth and Rumi have described spiritual experiences, and spiritual texts like The Upanishads and The Dao de Ching were written in a poetic form.
Spiritual poet Steve Taylor will explore spiritual awakening through poetry and meditations. He will read some spiritual poems from his new book Back to Stillness and lead meditations, exercises, and discussions based on the poems. We will experience spiritual awakening, presence, acceptance, and detachment.
Participants will also be guided and encouraged to create their own poetry, based on the Japanese ‘haiku’ tradition of describing moments of intense experience (this is optional).
Participants will:
- Experience moments of presence and stillness through listening to poetry and meditation
- Understand different aspects of the process of awakening, such as disidentifying from the ego and acceptance
- Access their own creative abilities and write their own short poems
Member Rate: $35 • Standard Rate: $40
Registrants will receive on-demand access to recording(s) that can be viewed for four weeks following the conclusion of the program.
