When Madame Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott and William Quan Judge started the Theosophical Society in New York in 1875, they had little idea of the effect their decision would have on the world. But in the years since its conception, Theosophy and the Theosophical Society have had an enormous impact on creating what we called "the modern world." Influencing religion, science, art, society, politics and popular culture, Theosophy and its teachers set in motion forces that today are still at work. This talk will look at this legacy and what it means for us in the 21st century.
